Restoring the Ancient to its Glory

Year 2014
Material Rochelle lace, laser-cut brass, 3D-printed modules
Presented at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, B.Des graduate exhibition

About the project

An old embroidered tablecloth found in a grandmother's closet. On the other side, a triangle abstracted from Eastern tradition. Together they created a connection between a garment and a jewellery — a body ornament.

A triangular modular system - laser-cut brass connected by living hinges - was developed to sit over Rochelle lace, testing how metal and textile can share load, movement and contact with skin. The 3D-printed module explores the translation of delicate crochet lace into a precise, repeatable structural element.
